Mason Griffin

Mason Griffin is in his fourth season at Bard and his second season as the associate head basketball coach after arriving at Bard in the summer of 2022.

During the 2024-25 season, the program went 13-12, with an 8-10 record in the Liberty League. Lazaros Panagiotounis was named to the All-Liberty League First Team and earned All-Met Honorable Mention. Also, Azriel Almodovar was named the Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year. On the academic side, two players were named to the Liberty League All-Academic team as well as the CSC Div. III Academic All-District team.

During the 2023-24 season, the Raptors finished the 2023/2024 season with a record of 14-12, good for 6th place in the Liberty League and an appearance in the Liberty League playoffs for the second time in school history. Griffin was instrumental in helping develop Lazaros Panagiotounis, who was named to the Liberty League Second Team. On the academic side; five players were named to the All-Academic Team, two were named to the CSC Div. III Academic All-District Team, the team earned their second consecutive NABC Team Academic Excellence Award and had seven Raptors receive Honors Court. 

He came to Bard from SUNY Canton, where he was an assistant coach for the 2021-22 season. Prior to SUNY Canton, Mason was the Head Coach at Unity College for the 2019-20 season.

Prior to Unity, Griffin spent three seasons coaching at Mt. Ararat High School in Topsham, Me., where he was the head freshman boys’ basketball coach and assistant boys’ varsity coach. During his time at Mt. Ararat the team made state playoffs on multiple occasions and Griffin coached the league Player of the Year. Griffin also has experience coaching at various camps across the nation.

A native of Topsham, Me., Griffin earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management from Thomas College in 2019, and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Thomas in 2020.
