The Bard College women's lacrosse team had a tricky game against the Clarkson Golden Knights on Saturday afternoon with a final score of 0-21.
Lexie Blackburn had a strong showing with 13 saves. Eva Hersey performed well, leading Bard in ground balls (4) and draw controls (3). Both marks were tied for the game-high. Gwyn Downey picked up a team-high three caused turnovers.
Goldie Siff was active with two ground balls and a caused turnover. Kayla Francis posted a ground ball and a caused turnover. Fae Johnson recorded two caused turnovers and a ground ball. Morgan Kottka tallied two draw controls, while Ella Perreault and Gwendolyn Jamison each had a draw control.
Despite Clarkson's aggression in the first period, Bard still managed to get two shots on goal. The first came from Hersey at the 8:46 mark, and the second was from Rian Sullivan with 4:33 remaining. In the second period, Bard was even in draw controls, 3-3, but couldn't convert it to offense.
In the third period, Hersey, Blackburn, and Francis all had a ground ball, all coming in the final 1:51. Then, the fourth period was a defensive standoff, with both teams shutting the other out. The Raptors had the edge in ground balls, 6-5. As a result, Bard prevented Clarkson from scoring in the final 20:36 of the contest.
The Raptors' Stick it Pink game is on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at home against Vassar.
