ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard women's lacrosse team could not establish a rhythm against the Mount Saint Mary Knights on Saturday afternoon at Lorenzo Ferrari Soccer & Lacrosse Complex, 17-1.

Gwendolyn Jamison scored the Raptors' lone goal, and she added a ground ball. Eva Hersey had an assist, a team-high six ground balls, a career-high four draw controls, and two caused turnovers. Rian Sullivan contributed four ground balls and a career-high tying four draw controls.

Gwyn Downey picked up three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Astrid Tillberg, Ella Perreault, and Fae Johnson were all active with two ground balls and a caused turnover. Carmen Merrick collected two ground balls, while Morgan Kottka added one. In goal, Lexie Blackburn had 13 saves, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers.

After a Knight goal at the 11:18 mark in the first, Bard held Mount Saint Mary scoreless for almost seven minutes, ceding a second goal with 4:24 remaining. They were able to stay close due to strong play in net by Blackburn, who picked up five saves in the period.

In the second period the Raptors had four shots, three of which came in the first 2:18 of play. From the 13:04 mark on, Mount Saint Mary upped their offensive game, finishing seven of its nine shots on goal.

Bard broke its scoring drought in the third period, as Jamison caught a pass from Hersey in stride with 7:32 remaining, sinking the shot past the Knights' goalkeeper. The Raptors had a good run of play from the 12:04 mark to the 4:33 mark, during which they prevented the Knights from extending their lead.

However, the fourth period was all Knights as Mount Saint Mary closed the game with six unanswered goals in the frame. Blackburn had four more saves in the fourth, and the ground ball battle was even at seven.

The Raptors host FDU-Florham for the first time in program history on Wednesday at 7 p.m. to finish their three-game homestand to begin the season.
