ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College Director of Athletics & Recreation, Stefanie Carrington, has named Monroe Maki as the newest Assistant Athletic Trainer. Maki comes from the University of Connecticut and will join the Department starting August 1st.

"I am incredibly excited to join such a talented medical team and athletic staff. Having lived in the area my entire life, I am honored to be a part of the Bard family," said Maki.

"We are very excited to have Monroe join our Sports Medicine Team. Monroe comes highly recommended with great experience working as an athletic trainer," said Bard Head Athletic Trainer, Lydia Johnson. "I believe she'll be a perfect fit for Bard."

Maki is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) and holds an Adult CPR/AED certification.

Maki joins Bard after earning her Master of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Connecticut and her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Quinnipiac University.

Her athletic training experience includes stops with the Hartford Public School District, Yale University, Choate Rosemary Hall, and Quinnipiac.

She most recently worked as a Certified Athletic Trainer within the Hartford Public School District, where she served as the primary athletic trainer for Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy and Capital Preparatory Magnet School. In that role, she developed and implemented rehabilitation programs, treatment protocols, and injury management plans for a variety of acute and chronic injuries.

Prior to her time in Hartford, she worked with the football program at Yale University, where she assisted with injury evaluation, taping and bracing, rehabilitation tracking, and practice and game-day operations. She also gained valuable experience at Choate Rosemary Hall, where she evaluated and treated a range of upper and lower extremity injuries, contributed to rehabilitation planning, and assisted in concussion management and return-to-play protocols.
In addition, she completed multiple clinical rotations at Quinnipiac University, working with the women's field hockey, women's lacrosse, women's soccer, and baseball teams. In these roles, she assisted with injury evaluations, rehabilitation programs, and game-day preparations. She also gained experience during a summer rotation with the University of Missouri football program, assisting with practice operations, athlete care, and emergency response in high-performance settings.
