Day 2 RECAP: Nate Dower Wins 100 Fly “C” Final at 2026 Liberty League Championships

| By:
The Bard College swimming team continued competition on the second day of the Liberty League Championships held at Ithaca. Prelims occurred in the morning. The best result came in the men's 100 fly "C" final, which Nate Dower won.

There were four Bard women in the 200 freestyle prelims, and it was Maya Remick's first time in that event. She led the Raptors with a 2:27.14, while Maya Farwell, Zlata Paslon, and Rose Rahimi followed. In the 100 fly, Yolanda Liu outswam a pair of opponents from William Smith and Vassar.

For the men, three swimmers hit PRs and two swimmers qualified for the "C" final. In the 200 freestyle prelims, Benett Hathaway bested his previous PR by 26 seconds. Cooper Andrews had a personal best by over 13 seconds in the same event. Nate Dower qualified for the "C" final in the 100 fly, swimming a PR of 54.88. Hal Beatty qualified for the "C" final in the 400 IM with a time of 5:08.45.

In the "C" final of the 100 fly, Dower came out on top with a time of 54.46, breaking his PR again. Dower's win in the "C" final is the first by a Raptor since Freddy Coronel won the "C" final in the 200 fly.

Beatty swam a much faster 400 IM in the final with a time of 4:57.90.

The Raptors return tomorrow for the third day of the championship with the 200 medley relay, 200 fly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, and 800 freestyle relay preliminary at 10 AM.
