Day 1 RECAP: Raptors Swimming begins 2026 Liberty League Championships

The Bard College swimming team opened competition on the first day of the Liberty League Championships held at Ithaca. The Raptors swam the preliminary in the morning. 

Reece Sherf had a huge performance in the 200 IM, recording a 2:17.18, which was a personal best by over 13 seconds. Nate Dower also swam a personal record in the race, notching a 2:03.95 time, almost four seconds faster than his previous best. He was named an alternate in the "C" final. Benett Hathaway joined the PR club in the 50 freestyle, cutting over a second off his prior top mark. Cooper Andrews had a 29.90 in the 50 freestyle, and Hal Beatty swam a 5:28.82 in the 500 freestyle.

On the women's side, three Raptors recorded a PR by over a second in the 50 freestyle – Maya Remick, Zlata Paslon, and Rose Rahimi. It was Remick's first time under 30 seconds. Maya Farwell finished above eight swimmers in the 50 freestyle with a 27.53 time. Yolanda Liu had a 2:33.07 in the 200 IM. 

The Raptors will be back tomorrow for the second day of the championship with the 200 freestyle, 100 fly, 400 IM, and the 200 freestyle relay preliminary at 10 AM.
