ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College men's soccer team dropped a home contest to the #7 St. Lawrence Saints, 1-2, on Saturday afternoon at Ferrari Field.

Bard had a couple of early opportunities, with Mateo Betelu taking a shot on goal at the 7:48 mark. In the 20th minute, St. Lawrence lasered a shot to Jake Sudit, who made a great save before the Saints cleaned up the rebound and scored. 11 minutes later, the Saints scored off a corner placed on the right side of the pitch. At the 36:04 mark, Devon Green attempted to split a double team and take a shot, but it was off the mark. Bard had a couple of opportunities late in the half, first with a shot by James Bird that went high, and then with Betelu driving hard into the teeth of the defense. Unfortunately, the Saints' goalkeeper turned away Pablo Ortega's shot.

The Raptors survived a scary situation on defense early in the second, as St. Lawrence's Dennis Argueta got free but missed left. Sudit was under siege on a pair of shots in the 56th and 57th minutes, but he stood firm with two saves. Ortega had a shot rattle off the left post at the 65:23 mark that would have made it 2-1 if it had been inches to the right. Aren Andrews won a corner in the 70th minute, but it did not prove fruitful. At the 71:57 mark, Sudit had to launch himself to the left, making an athletic save on a Saints shot. Betelu led a counterattack in the 79th minute after a St. Lawrence corner, but his initial shot was saved. On the ensuing corner, Frankie Perera-Modica slotted it to Betelu, who scored at the 79:24 mark to make it 2-1.

Sudit totaled eight saves, and Jamie Coequyt, Henry Skeltis, Evan Baukol, and Emmett Olson played 90 minutes.
Bard goes to RPI on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
