ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Bard College first-year Maria Castro was named the Liberty League Singles Performer of the Week on Monday afternoon by the league office. 

Castro is on a 5-0 winning streak right now. Bard had four matches this week, and Maria won all 4 of her singles matches at #1 and went 3-1 in doubles at #1 with partner Paige Houghton. 

On Monday against Western Connecticut, Castro won 6-0, 6-0, and 6-0 in doubles. On Tuesday, she won against Union 6-3, 6-4, but fell in doubles 6-1. On Saturday against Purchase, she won easily 6-0, 6-0 and 6-4 in doubles. On Sunday against Pratt, she had to fight back from a set down to win 2-6, 6-2, 10-3 in the third set tiebreak. She also won doubles 7-5. 

Castro is the first-ever Raptor to be named Singles Performer of the Week.
