Five Women’s Lacrosse Student-Athletes named to the 2025 CSC Division III Academic All-District Team

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.— Five members of the Bard College women's lacrosse team were honored as the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Division III Academic All-District At-Large Team, an award that recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. 

The five students honored were sophomore Ella Perreault, junior Gwyn Downey, and seniors Maya Junkins, Izzi Popolizio and Morgan Ruhle

Sophomore Ella Perreault is studying human rights. Perreault started in 15 games as a versatile midfielder and defender. She was second on the team in caused turnovers with 23 and ranked third on the team for ground balls with 32. Perreault added a goal, two assists, and seven draw controls. She was also named to the Liberty League All-Academic team.

Junior Gwyn Downey is studying literature and middle eastern studies. Downey started 14 games. She recorded one assist against Skidmore. Downey picked up 11 ground balls, caused five turnovers, and had one draw control. In addition, she recorded multiple ground balls in four games. She is also a two-time Liberty League All-Academic Honoree.

Senior Maya Junkins is studying art history and visual culture. Junkins played in 15 games and started in 14 games as one of the Raptors' primary attackers. She ranked third on the team in draw controls (21) and assists (6), while adding five goals, seven ground balls, and two caused turnovers. She is also a two-time Liberty League All-Academic Honoree.

Senior Izzi Popolizio is studying environmental and urban studies. Popolizio started in 15 games for the Raptors as a primary offensive option. She led the team in assists with 15 and was second in points with 33. Popolizio added 29 groundballs, six draw controls and 13 caused turnovers. This season, she set the new school record for assists in a career, with 65. Popolizio ranks third in program history in career points, with 134. She is also a three-time Liberty League All-Academic Honoree and now a two-time CSC All-District At-Large. 

Lastly, senior Morgan Ruhle is studying mathematics and psychology. Ruhle started 15 games for the Raptors as a defender. She was the Liberty League leader in ground balls per game with 3.87 and led the conference in caused turnovers per game, with 2.00. Her 146 career ground balls and 68 career caused turnovers both rank third in program history. She is also a three-time Liberty League All-Academic Honoree. 

To be nominated for the At-Large Academic All-District Team, the athlete must have a GPA of 3.50 or above and must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically. The student-athlete has to have competed in 90% of the Team's total games played or have started 66% of the Team's total games. The Academic All-District Team is selected by the College Sports Communicators.
