The Bard College women's basketball team fell to the William Smith Herons on Saturday afternoon.
Erin Tobes led the Raptors in scoring, with ten.
Shirley Dong had six points on 3-of-5 shooting, three rebounds, and an assist.
Lexi Miller had five points, nine rebounds, and three steals, leading the team in the latter two categories.
Aislynn Dixon and
Jessica Martin each had five points, with Dixon adding three rebounds and Martin dishing out an assist, grabbing a steal, and recording four boards.
Maggy Peyton had six rebounds and two steals in a solid defensive effort.
Tobes got a steal and found Dixon to start the game, with Dixon drawing the foul and finishing through contact. Tobes got a layup on the next possession as the Raptors started up 5-0. The Herons went on a 9-0 run to take the lead and outscored Bard 15-4 throughout the next eight minutes. In the second quarter, the Herons hit three shots from beyond the arc during a 13-0 run. The Raptors held the Herons to just six points over the final 5:48 of the first half, going on a 13-6 run capped off by a Dong layup.
Bard got within eight out of halftime at 26-34. However, a tough shooting stretch allowed William Smith to take a big lead after the third quarter.
Melina Koulouri and
Tianna Gonzalez scored in the fourth quarter along with Miller, Dixon, and Tobes. The Raptors scored 11 points off turnovers in the game, with nine coming in the first half. Bard scored 26 points in the paint and grabbed 16 offensive rebounds.
The Raptors will start their final homestand on Friday at 5:30 p.m. when they play Ithaca. Bard will be doing a fundraiser for Morgan's Message, a mental health foundation for student-athletes, before celebrating their lone senior,
Maggy Peyton, on Saturday against RIT at 2 p.m.
