RECAP: Swimming Finishes Above Delhi at Skidmore Sprint Invite

The Bard College swimming team competed in the Skidmore Sprint Invite on Saturday, taking on teams such as Skidmore, Hartwick, Vassar, Mount Holyoke, and Delhi. The women's team finished 5th,  while the men finished 4th. 

Freddy Coronel had a time of 25.34 and finished 6th of 21 swimmers in the 50-yard butterfly. He also placed above five opposing swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.37. Nate Dower finished ahead of four opponents in the 50-yard freestyle, recording a 24.13. Owen O'Reilly broke his personal best in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 37.72. 

Jose Rivera Corujo swam a 36.05 in his first 50-yard breaststroke. He participated in his first 100-yard IM, finishing in 1:12.61. Hal Beatty raced a 5:14.98 in his first 400-yard IM. He also swam a 1:08.90 in his first 100-yard IM. Owen O'Reilly rounded out the pack in his first 100-yard IM with a 1:16.14 time.

Olivia Dower beat out 14 swimmers in the 50-yard butterfly, racing a personal best 29.85. She also outpaced four opposing swimmers in the 100-yard butterfly, recording a time of 1:07.26. Her time of 1:09.87 – a personal best – put her 10th of 25 competitors in the 100-yard IM. Mary Mendez finished 13th of 22 racers in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 33.56. 

Vera Topsik cut two seconds off her personal best 50-yard free time, racing a 35.31. Maya Farwell raced her first 50-yard butterfly in a time of 32.67. Sophie Levy had a 1:25.15 time in her first 100-yard IM.

The Raptors will compete at the Liberty League Championships from February 19th to 22nd, with morning preliminary races and evening final events.
