A minute and a half into the second quarter, Gregory made a layup and Dong hit a three to cut the lead to seven. The Saxons were able to generate a 38-19 halftime lead despite the Raptors going 2-of-4 from distance in the quarter.
Bard's defense was exceptional in the third quarter, holding Alfred to 1-of-11 shooting (9.1%). The Raptors prevented the Saxons from scoring in the first 3:59 of the second half. Bard went on a 10-3 run to trim the lead to 12 after a free throw from Tobes. The Raptors prevented a made field goal for the final six minutes of the third quarter. However, that drought was snapped on the Saxons' first possession, and it sparked a 7-0 run to push the lead up to 20. Alfred was able to get five second chance points in the fourth while Bard did not convert on either of its two offensive rebounds.
Bard will play in the third-place game of the Alfred Tournament tomorrow against Alfred State at 2 p.m.
