ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College swimming team debuted at home for the first time in the new year. Seniors Freddy Coronel, Olivia Dower, Zahra Haidari, Sophie Levy, Mary Mendez, Julia Pelletier, Roma Taitwood and Vera Topsik were recognized on Saturday afternoon. 

"This class has been the heartbeat of our team for the last 4 years," said head coach John Weitz. "Their hard work and dedication will have a lasting effect on our future."

The women fell to William Paterson 33-107, while the men dropped the contest 66-88.

The Raptors made strides despite the result. Freddy Coronel won the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke, setting a personal best in the breaststroke (1:09.96). Nate Dower won the 100-yard IM and the 100-yard backstroke, breaking his personal best in the latter (1:00.81). Dower raced his fastest 100-yard IM with a time of 59.80. 

Hal Beatty won the 500-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 5:43:57. Cooper Andrews raced for the first time, participating in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle.

On the women's side, Rose Rahimi shaved more than two seconds off her 200-yard freestyle time (3:09.13), Vera Topcik continued to improve her 50-yard freestyle (37.34), and Maya Farwell broke her personal best in the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.13).Farwell raced the 100-yard IM for the first time, Topsik finished fourth in her first 100-yard freestyle, and Sophie Levy raced in her first 200-yard IM.

The Purchase Panthers are the Raptors' next foe. The Swimmers will jump off the starting blocks on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Purchase.
