The Bard College swimming team competed at Brooklyn for their first meet of the 2025 season. The women took the victory over the Bulldogs 123-49, while the men fell 67-136. It is the first time that the Raptors competed in 2025 after traveling to Puerto Rico last week for winter training.
The Raptors had 16 first-place finishes, including 10 wins for the women. Bard had a few swimmers in new events:
Maria Krouse placed second in the 100-yard freestyle, while
Maya Farwell finished at the top of the 50-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle relay, recording a personal best in the 50-yard freestyle.
Zahra Haidari finished third at 38.70 seconds and
Vera Topsik finished fourth.
On the men's side, the Raptors won 6 of the 12 events, including
Reece Sherf's first-place performance in the 200 freestyle. Sherf nearly missed his personal best by 32 milliseconds.
Hal Beatty swam the 1000-yard freestyle under 12 minutes for the first time in his career.
The Raptors will travel to Mount Saint Mary on Thursday at 5 p.m. before hosting William Paterson on Saturday at 1 p.m.
