ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The Bard College women's soccer team delivered an impressive 6-0 victory over Brooklyn on Tuesday evening at Ferrari Field, showcasing dominance from start to finish in their first home game of the season.
The Raptors came out strong, launching four shots in the first 10 minutes with early attempts from
Carina Cooke,
Waleska Brito, and
Kaia Brady. The first goal came from a breakthrough brilliant pass from
Alexandria Loner, who found Cooke. Cooke skillfully beat out her defender and fired the ball into the bottom right corner. Just 10 minutes later, Brito doubled the lead with a powerful header—her third header of the season—off a pinpoint cross from
Senowa Leverentz. With that goal, Brito has matched her career high of four goals.
Bard continued to press, and it paid off again when Cooke netted her second of the match, capping off a beautiful passing sequence from Brito to
Maya Farwell, who set Cooke up for a clinical finish. The Raptors entered halftime with a 3-0 lead, having outshot the Bulldogs 15-2.
The second half saw no letup in Bard's intensity.
Mahlia Slaiby earned a penalty kick early on, and although it was saved, Bard quickly responded.
Goldie Siff scored her first collegiate goal off a perfectly delivered free kick from outside the box, extending the lead to 4-0. The barrage continued as Slaiby dazzled with fancy footwork in the 73rd minute, cutting in from the outside to curl a shot into the top left corner. Moments later,
Ella Perreault joined the scoring with her first collegiate goal, expertly finishing a pass from Slaiby to seal the 6-0 win.
The Raptors ended the match with an astounding 34 shots, 21 of which were on target. Goalkeeper
McKenna Reeves had her first collegiate start and made three clutch saves while the Raptors' defense put in a stellar performance to secure the shutout.
Bard returns to action on Friday, September 20th, as they face William Paterson at Ferrari Field, with kickoff set for 5:00 PM. The Raptors will be doing a fundraiser for Morgan's Message, a mental health foundation for student-athletes.
