The Bard College men's volleyball team defeated Brooklyn in a thrilling five-setter on Thursday night. Set scores were 19-25, 26-24, 19-25, 25-17, 15-11.
Bard (4-4) had to fight back from a 2 sets to 1 deficit to defeat the Bulldogs in five sets. The Raptors had two players with double-double performances as graduate student
Angel Obergh led the team with 15 kills and added ten digs for his second double-double of the season. First-year
Lincoln Grisso had his first career double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs. Grisso and Obergh combined for seven blocks, with Grisso serving a career-high five aces.

Quincy Ross had a career-high 10 kills, hitting .261, while NEVC Rookie of the Week
Kincade Avery had a career-high 15 digs while putting away nine kills. Sophomore setter
Georgi Chikolov had 45 assists and added three digs.
Brooklyn took an 8-3 lead in the first set, but the Raptors fought back, reducing the deficit to just three at 16-13. It was not enough to take the first set but the momentum carried them into a strong start in set two. Bard switched gears and took a 13-9 lead before Brooklyn picked up their offense and went on a 15-7 run. That run set Brooklyn up with four straight set point opportunities at 24-20 but the Raptors showed tenacity, winning six consecutive points and taking the second set, 26-24.
In the third frame Brooklyn hit .222, their best hitting percentage of the night, with only five errors and six aces. In the fourth set, Bard fortified their defense, holding Brooklyn to 0 service aces and taking control of the net play with five blocks.
In the fifth set, with the game tied at 6-6, Bard went on a 7-0 run to take a 13-6 lead. At 14-7, Brooklyn found a way to save four match points but a kill from Obergh sealed the victory for the Raptors.
Bard will travel to Dominican next Thursday at 7 p.m.
