Six Women’s Soccer Players named to 2024 Division III Academic All-District Team

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College women's soccer team had six 2024 Division III Academic All-District honorees, an award that recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance on the field and in the classroom. 

Senior Waleska Brito is majoring in architecture. She also received the Charles & June Patrick Scholar Award at Bard's annual athletics awards banquet. Brito led the Raptors in goals this season as a central midfielder, helping to orchestrate the team's attack. She totaled seven goals, ranking fourth in the Liberty League. Brito is a three-time Liberty League All-Academic honoree. 

Junior Carina Cooke is majoring in architecture and psychology. Cooke was a key defender for the Raptors and also was an offensive threat. Cooke helped the team to three shutouts and was second on the team with three goals. Cooke led the Raptors in minutes played during conference play, with 794. She is also a two-time Liberty-League All-Academic honoree. 

Senior Senowa Leverentz is majoring in biology. As a starting defender for the Raptors, Leverentz was important to all aspects of the team's play, helping on offense, defense, and in transition. In addition to a goal and two assists, she led the team in minutes played overall. She was an essential part of three shutouts for the Raptors. Leverentz received the 2023 Women's Soccer Athletic Award and is also a three-time Liberty League All-Academic honoree. 

Senior Seymone Rosenberg is majoring in politics and human rights. She is the Raptors' all-time leader in saves, with 290. Rosenberg started in 15 of 17 games in goal for the Raptors, making 95 total saves. Rosenberg had a shutout against Purchase. Rosenberg is also a three-time Liberty League All-Academic honoree. 

Sophomore Camila Sandaal is majoring in chemistry. She started in all 17 games this season for Bard. Sandaal was second on the team in minutes played, with 1433. She played all 90 minutes in 12 of the 17 games. Sandaal is also a Liberty League All-Academic honoree.

Sophomore Mahlia Slaiby is majoring in written arts. She played in 16 games, starting 15 of them for the Raptors. She leads all sophomores and first-years in shots, shots on goal, assists, and points. Slaiby scored a goal against Brooklyn, giving her three total goals in her young career. She is joining the Lebanese Futsal National team in January. Slaiby is also a Liberty League All-Academic honoree.

To be recognized on the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing and enrolled full-time with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50. The student-athletes must have also competed in 90 percent of the institution's games or must start in at least 66 percent of games. 
The Academic All-District Team is selected by the College Sports Communicators.
