The Bard College women's squash team opened their season at Vassar Round Robin on Saturday, defeating Fordham before falling to NYU and Boston. 

Bard's first match was against Fordham, where the Raptors defeated the Rams 6-3. There were four collegiate debuts for the Raptors: first-years Tarana Downer, Nioby Rodriguez and Najla Nazari and senior Victoria Bagatcholon. 

Downer won in straight sets in flight 1 against her opponent from Fordham and had some close matchups in her other two matches. Rodriguez won in flight 3 against Fordham in four sets and battled hard against her opponents from NYU and Boston. Nazari won by default against BYU and fought hard against her opponents from Fordham and Boston. Bagatcholon, fresh off playing for the women's tennis team, joined the squash team and played in flight 6. 

Thenuri De Silva won her match-up in flight 2 against Fordham and won a set against her opponent from Boston. Meherin Hossain had to battle to win in four sets in flight 4 against her Fordham opponent. Hossain had another four set battle against Boston. Tee Williams defeated their Fordham opponent in straight sets in flight 5. Mona Haidari went 2-1 on the day in flight 7, defeating her opponent from Fordham and NYU and falling in four sets against her opponent from Boston. 

Bard will host a round-robin in two weeks. On Saturday, November 9, they will take on Smith, Brown, and Mt. Holyoke.
