ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Bard College men's soccer team's winning streak came to an end on Saturday as the Raptors lost their conference opener 3-0 at Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon.
Bard (5-1) went down early when Ithaca capitalized on a free kick in the 15th minute of the game. Bard's best opportunities in the first half were shots by
Mateo Betelu and
Pablo Ortega, but the Bombers scored another goal in the 40th minute mark to end the half with a 2-0 score.
The Raptors attempted to battle back in the second half and had a shot on goal from
Reed Campbell, but the Bombers were able to get a third goal in the 57th minute to complete the scoring.
Gavin Hersey finished the game with four saves for the Raptors. Ithaca led in corners (7-3) and shots on goal (7-1).
Bard will look to bounce back when the team travels to Poughkeepsie to compete against local rival Vassar College on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
