WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Bard men's track team opened its outdoor season on Sunday at the Monmouth Spring Opener, with a number of PRs and strong performances.
For several first years, the event was their first-ever collegiate outdoor track meet, so their marks from Sunday set the bar for their personal records moving forward.
Clemente Esponilla led three Raptors in the 1500 with a time of 4:28.73, followed by
Graeme Lauterbach-Mason and
Bo Hopwood.
In the 800m,
Nic Soucy took half a second off his personal best time from a year ago, and senior
CeDaniel Sumpter ran well in both the 200m and 400m, setting a new PR in the 200m. Hosam Jawabra made his collegiate debut on Sunday as well, running in both the 100m and 200m.
The Raptors will compete every weekend moving forward into May, with the Danny Curran Invitational in Chester, Penn., next Saturday.
