ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Bard men's track team saw a school record in the 60m and several personal bests at the Liberty League Indoor Track Championships on Friday in Rochester.
Sprinter CeDaniel Sumpter lowered his own Bard record, taking .14 seconds off the 60m time he set almost a month ago in Utica.
"This was an outstanding performance for the team," said Bard coach Billy Poole-Harris. "Everyone showed up ready to compete and put forward a great performance. But in addition to the individual efforts, they collectively displayed a lot of sportsmanship and competitiveness, and I was proud of how we showed up."
In addition to Sumpter's school record, Raptors who set personal bests included Bo Hopwood in the mile, who took almost six seconds off his previous mark, and Caleb Ribeiro, who trailed Sumpter in the 60m by just .12 of a second. Graeme Lauterbach-Mason also ran well in the mile, coming close to his PR in the event.
The team continues its participation on Saturday in the second day of the competition, with events including the 800m, 3000m, and 4x400m relay.
