Raptors win third straight to start season, a first for the men's soccer program

PAXTON, Mass. - The Bard College men's soccer team defeated Anna Maria College, 2-0, in a non-league game on Thursday night.

The victory makes Bard 3-0, the best start to a season in the history of the program.

"The team worked very hard for 90 minutes," Bard coach TJ Kostecky said. "And everyone contributed to a difficult win on the road. I'm proud of their resilience and heart."

Caleb Ribeiro gave Bard the lead for good in the 12th minute. He was fouled about 22 yards from goal, and on the ensuing free kick, he found a gap between the wall of defenders and the near post, and he made the most of the opportunity, scoring for a 1-0 lead.

Anna Maria pushed forward in the second half, producing several scoring chances, but Bard put the game away in the 83rd minute. Cole Ewalt sent a cross to the top of the box, and first year Calvin Moe one-timed it with his right foot on a full volley, scoring to the far post.

Gavin Hersey made three saves and maintained the clean sheet with Anna Maria missed a penalty kick at the buzzer.

Bard will go for its fourth straight win at York on Saturday. Note that there will be no live stats or live video available for that contest.
