Hobart holds off Bard, 2-1

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team lost to Hobart College, 2-1, in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.

Hobart scored in the seventh minute, and Bard appeared to equalize in the 17th minute, but Johannes Meyer's goal was disallowed on an offsides call. It remained 1-0 at halftime, with Hobart holding a 5-3 edge in shots.

The second half was played similarly, but the Statesmen doubled their lead in the 70th minute. Later, with Bard pressing forward, Ben Steketee had his shot saved from close range with about 90 seconds left, and he hit the ensuing corner, which found the head of Kristian Krslovic, and the senior cut the lead in half with 56.7 seconds left. The game ended, 2-1.

Walker Schwabauer made four saves in his first home start.

Up next for Bard is Ithaca, home on Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.
