ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team lost to St. Lawrence University, 72-56, in a Liberty League game on Monday night.
In what was clearly one of Bard's most complete performances of the season, the Raptors battled the 15-1 Liberty League frontrunners from start to finish. The game was tied, 33-33, at halftime, and Bard outscored St. Lawrence in the first and fourth quarters.
"That was a great team effort against an extremely tough and deep team from St. Lawrence," Bard coach
Casi Donelan said. "We were able to hold our own on the boards, but we couldn't overcome a drought in the third quarter."
Senior
Christina Kiser led Bard with 22 points and eight rebounds, and the rest of the lineup come through big against a tall, strong opponent.
Mae Redmond had a career-high 12 points, and also grabbed six rebounds and made two steals.
Thalia Grandinetti had 11 points and five rebounds off the bench, and
Maggy Peyton had nine points (a career-high) and six rebounds.
"It was really fun seeing
Thalia Grandinetti and
Mae Redmond find a groove," Donelan said. "We look forward to seeing the Saints again this weekend."
The Raptors head to North Country at the end of the week, taking on Clarkson on Friday, and St. Lawrence on Saturday.
