ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team edged Cazenovia College, 1-0, in a non-league game on Wednesday night.
Neither team produced a shot on goal in the first half, but things changed in the second half, and Bard went ahead when
Min Purvis found
Nic Soucy streaking down the right side, and Soucy scored in the 66th minute.
"At halftime, we said we needed to win the second ball more," Bard coach
TJ Kostecky said. "They were hunting the second balls more than we were, we were late anticipating them, and it was putting pressure on our defense. We just weren't as crisp with our passing. We knew if we wanted to come forward, we needed to win the second ball."
Bard outshot Cazenovia 16-6 in the second half.
"We have to bring more energy than the other team to give us the opportunity to get a result," Kostecky added. "And we've done that consistently in the last four games."
It is Bard's first four-game winning streak since 2006.
Up next is Bard's Liberty League opener at home against RPI on Saturday.
