MANDATORY MASKING
Effective Saturday, Aug. 28, all students, faculty, and staff will be required to mask in public indoor settings, including the Stevenson Athletic Center, for an initial two-week period. After the initial period, the Response Team will monitor the need for continued indoor masking. Please see the college's Mask Policy site for more information.
For the Stevenson Athletic Center, this means that all individuals working out or passing through Stevenson Athletic Center will need to be wearing masks. Locker Rooms will remain open, but showers will be closed for the duration of the mask mandate.
STEVENSON ATHLETIC CENTER HOURS
Starting on Monday, Aug. 30, the Stevenson Athletic Center will expand hours further for student, faculty, and staff use. The hours are as follows:
Monday - Friday
7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Saturday - Sunday
9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
COMMUNITY ACCESS TO STEVENSON ATHLETIC CENTER
Athletics and Recreation Staff, in consultation with the Response Team, will continue to evaluate the potential return of the community to the Stevenson Athletic Center, starting with family of faculty and staff. Details will be posted on this website when dates and requirements are finalized; however, all gym patrons will be required to show vaccination status to have access to the building.
POOL USE
In addition to lap swim for Bard students, faculty, and staff, the pool will be used by youth club and school swim teams starting in September. These groups will not use the pool at the same time as the Bard community, and will be following COVID protocols to avoid mixing with the Bard community while using the facility.
Reservations for lap swim for the Bard community can be made through Omnify at this link.
NCAA GUIDELINES
This fall, all Bard Athletics teams will be following NCAA and Liberty League guidance for safe competition, and welcoming visiting teams who are also following the same recommendations. This means that all student-athletes from both teams will either be vaccinated or have undergone a recent COVID test in order to be allowed to compete, and any unvaccinated students will be masked indoors at all times.
Teams competing and practicing outdoors will be unmasked, but visiting teams using the Stevenson Athletic Center restrooms, locker rooms, or other locations will be masked.
Indoor sports will follow NCAA guidance for safe competition, which instructs students to be masked at all times except when practicing or competing. Coaches and other staff will be masked as well.Â
SPECTATOR POLICY
On Sept. 1, our fall sports will begin intercollegiate competition; students, faculty, staff, families and other guests are welcome to come to games and watch our teams compete. For outdoor sports, vaccinations, masks, and physical distancing are not required but are encouraged. There is no building access for spectators at outdoor sporting events; portable toilets are available just north of the turf field.
For indoor sports, all spectators must provide proof of vaccination to enter the building. Bard students and staff may use their IDs to enter, but anyone from outside the Bard community will be required to show proof of vaccination before coming inside. Masks will also be required indoors at least through the first two weeks of the school year and potentially past that period as well.
GROUP CLASSES
For students, faculty, and staff looking to participate in Group Classes here at Stevenson Athletic Center, we have in-person yoga sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30-6:30pm in Classroom #1. Other classes may be added in the future and will be listed on this website.
