ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team lost to St. Lawrence University, 2-1, in a Liberty League game on Friday afternoon.
St. Lawrence scored in the 33rd and 48th minutes to take a 2-0 lead, but then the game changed. Bard pushed forward, got a goal from senior
Denny Lane in the 74th minute, and nearly equalized a couple of times. A bending blast from
Caleb Ribeiro was tipped over the crossbar in the 76th minute, and
Reed Campbell had a good chance blocked at the buzzer.
Bard produced seven corner kicks in the second half to St. Lawrence's three.
"This is the best half of soccer we've played since I've been here without question," Bard coach
TJ Kostecky said. "We doubled the corner kicks of an establish Liberty League program that has won national championships. It shows that we are making steps moving forward.
"
Gavin Hersey (four saves) made a huge save when we were down 2-0, and it gave us confidence and momentum," Kostecky continued. "
Caleb Wagner stepped in and did a fabulous job as well."
Bard gets right back on the field on Saturday against Clarkson, a 1-0 loser to Vassar on Friday.
"I'm looking forward to seeing us perform the way we did in the second half today throughout the whole game," Kostecky said.
