Benincasa breaks Bard discus record at Liberty League meet; Yebouet 8th in 400 meters

TROY, N.Y. - The Bard College men's track and field team got an eight-place finish from Bethuel Yebouet in the 400 meters, and a new Bard record in the discus from CJ Benincasa on the final day of the Liberty League Championships.

Yebouet qualified for the 400 final on Friday, breaking the Bard record in the trials, then placed eighth in the final.

Benincasa shattered the Bard record in the discus, out-throwing his personal best by four meters with a toss of 36.29 meters. That was good for 13th place, and it qualified the sophomore for the ECAC Championships, to be held at Southern Connecticut State University on May 16.

"Saturday was another great performance by our student-athletes," Bard coach David Lindholm said. "Having CJ qualify for the ECAC Championships with his throw was a great moment, and Bethuel again ran well in a deep and talented field. I'm excited about the things to come with our team."

Benincasa wasn't done. He improved on his personal best in the shot, placing 17th with a throw of 10.42 meters.
