Benincasa, Yebouet highlight Raptors' performance at Delhi

DELHI, N.Y. - The Bard College men's track & field team competed at the Bronco Classic hosted by SUNY Delhi, with student-athletes setting numerous PRs, and sophomore CJ Benincasa besting his own school record in the discus.

Benincasa led the day off for the Raptors by throwing a 32.60m in the discus on his second attempt, his first time clearing 32 meters. Shortly afterwards, he also set a personal best in the shot put with a 10.18m.

The runners had to battle a stiff headwind on the final straightaway, but sophomore Bethuel Yebouet turned in a personal best 23.99 in the 200m, good for fifth place and continuing to move closer to a school record. His time in the 400m was also a PR, taking seven-tenths off his previous mark to finish fourth at 52.24.

Bard also ran three athletes in the 800m, led by first year Rowan Forsythe, who marked his return to the event after recovering from injury with an even-split 2:12.15. Winston Cheney set a PR in the event, taking almost four seconds off his previous best by running a 2:18.74, and finishing a few seconds ahead of Hongmin Ahn.

The team will be back in action next Saturday at Trinity College in Hartford.
