BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Bard College men's volleyball team lost to New York University, 3-0, in its final United Volleyball Conference match of the season on Saturday afternoon.
NYU swept Bard 25-17, 25-11 and 25-21.
The Raptors got off to a good start, hitting .333 in the first set, with 10 kills and just three errors. But NYU was even more efficient, hitting .500 with 14 kills and two errors. A kill from
Jelani Bell-Isaac cut NYU's lead to 21-17, but the hosts closed it out, 25-17.
NYU cruised to a 25-11 win the second set, hitting .588.
Down 15-9 at one point in the third set, the Raptors rallied and cut the deficit to 19-17 on a kill by
Price Ohmer. Later, an ace by
Tristan Kozul and a kill by
Galen Willigan brought Bard to within 21-20, but NYU closed it out, 25-21.
Brendan Duggan (Newton, MA) and Ethan Talkov (Swampscott, MA) had 11 kills apiece for NYU (10-8, 6-2 UVC).
Bell-Isaac had nine kills and
Joshua Han added four for the Raptors. Kozul had 16 assists, three digs, two aces and two blocks.
Colin Schroeder led Bard with seven digs.
Two games remain in the 2019 season for Bard. They'll play a tri-match at Baruch with Misericordia on Mar. 30.
