Kiser, Esposito shine in loss to William Smith

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team lost to William Smith College, 85-54, in a Liberty League game on Friday night.

The Raptors were down 11-4 early, but a 12-6 run, culminating with a three-pointer from Olivia Couture in the final minute, cut Bard's deficit to 17-16 entering the second quarter.

But the Herons outscored Bard 30-10 in the second stanza to carry a 21-point lead into halftime, and the Raptors were unable to get any closer in the second half.

The guests were led by 6-foot-1 senior forward Mia Morrison (Geneva, NY), who had 27 points and 10 rebounds. Amy Dooley (Carlow, Ireland), a 6-2 freshman, added 14 points and six rebounds as the Herons made the most of their size advantage. William Smith is 7-5 overall, 3-3 in the Liberty League.

Bard (4-6, 0-5) got 23 points, six rebounds, four assists and five steals from freshman Christina Kiser, who entered the weekend as the nation's leading scorer. Junior Katie Esposito went 3-for-4 from long range and finished with 17 points. Caleigh DeCaprio added six points, while Olivia Couture finished with four points and five rebounds.
