KINGSTON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost to 13th-ranked William Smith College, 18-0 Friday afternoon, as Liberty League play began for each side.
The Raptors fell to 2-1 overall, while William Smith improved to 3-2.
The Herons scored three times during the first three minutes to quickly jump in front of Bard and rode the scoring wave into halftime leading 11-0. William Smith outshot the Raptors, 28-6 overall and 26-1 on goal. The ground ball battle went to the visitors by the count of 20-14.
Melissa Rosenthal finished with three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover. Nicole Ellin had a shot, a draw control, a caused turnover and two ground balls.
Caleigh DeCaprio recorded a shot and three ground balls and Kaylynn Tran tallied eight saves for Bard in the effort.
Sadie Mapstone (Geneva, NY) led William Smith with four goals, while Sarah Benyo (Apalachin, NY) added two goals and two assists in the win.Â
