Women's basketball defeated at Ithaca College

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team lost to Ithaca College, 94-42, Saturday afternoon in a Liberty League game.

The loss dropped the Raptors to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in league play, while the Bombers of Ithaca improved to 4-1 and 2-0.

Bard began the contest by keeping things tight, as the visitors trailed just 10-7 after five minutes of play. From there however, the Bombers started to take over. The hosts proceeded to outscore Bard, 16-2, over the rest of the quarter to grab a 26-9 first quarter lead.

Once the second quarter began, Ithaca continued to pull away, as the Bombers led 54-20 at halftime. Ithaca shot nearly 54 percent from the field in the victory and dominated the glass, finishing with over three times the rebounds Bard had.

The Raptors meanwhile, shot 33 percent in the game and were led by a pair of freshman. Jess Rylander continued her breakout weekend by scoring 23 points, which broke the career mark she had just set yesterday. Rylander also added three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Olivia Couture added 10 points in the effort.

For Ithaca, it was a balanced offensive outing, as four players finished with double digit point totals. Grace Cannon (Bloomfield, NJ) led the pack with 12 points.

Up next for the Raptors is one last game in 2018, before the team goes on winter break. Bard will host the University of Saint Joesph on December 5th at 7 p.m. You can follow it right here.
