ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - It took just two games for
Christina Kiser to leave a her mark on the record books.
The freshman guard poured in 35 points Friday, which tied the third-highest single game total in Bard women's basketball history, as she led the Raptors to a 67-46 win over Bay Path University.
Kiser finished the night shooting 13-for-25 overall, 5-for-12 from three and 4-of-5 from the free throw line. She tallied five points in the first quarter, 13 in the second, 10 in the third and seven in the fourth. Kiser also grabbed nine rebounds, three assists and two steals in the effort. Through two games, she is averaging 32 points per game.
With the win, the Raptors are now 2-0 on the season, which is their best start since 2015. Meanwhile, the Wildcats of Bay Path fell to 1-2 with the loss.
Despite the final score line, the game was quite competitive early as Bard and Bay Path traded scoring runs. Bard opened the evening with back-to-back three pointers from
Caleigh DeCaprio and Kiser to jump in front, before a 7-0 run from the Wildcats put the guests on top.
The Raptors answered right back however, as the team finished the first quarter on an 8-0 run to grab a 14-7 lead after 10 minutes.
From there, the hosts poured it on. They outscored the Wildcats, 21-13, in the second quarter to take a 35-20 halftime lead. After three quarters, Bard led 53-30.
DeCaprio was the only other Bard player to finish in double digits, as she added 13 points on 5-for-11 shooting. Freshman
Jess Rylander grabbed 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals in the winning effort.
As for Bay Path, Emmeline Bronson (Shelton, CT) led the way with 20 points and seven rebounds.
