Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Raptors fall to St. Lawrence at home

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's lacrosse team lost to St. Lawrence University, 17-4, Friday afternoon.

The loss drops the Raptors to 4-9 overall and 0-8 in Liberty league play. Meanwhile, the Saints of St. Lawrence improved to 8-7, 5-3 LL.

While the final score line might not reflect it, the opening 30 minutes were some of the best Bard had played all season. The Raptors worked the Saints, both offensively and defensively, and used some great individual plays to score some goals along the way.

St. Lawrence kicked off the afternoon with two early goals, before Dylan McDonald used her speed and power to get Bard on the board less than five minutes into the contest.

The visitors responded by scoring four straight goals to push their lead to, 6-1, until Melissa Rosenthal added her 17th goal of the season, just past the midway mark of the first half.

Casey Witte muscled her way past three defenders late in the first half to give Bard its third goal of the half, but  the team still entered halftime trailing by the score of 9-3.

Once the second half started, it was clear that fatigue had begun to kick in for the hosts, as they were outscored, 8-1 over the final 30 minutes.

Bard's lone goal came off a great individual effort from Caleigh DeCaprio, who pushed her team-lead in goals to 23 for the season.

Kaylynn Tran finished with 12 saves for the Raptors. The 12 saves mark the seventh time this year she has recorded double-digit saves in a game. By comparison, Tran only had four games of double-digit saves in 2016.

The Raptors finished the afternoon by being outshot, 32-7, though all of Bard's shots were on goal. Bard lost the groundball, turnover and draw control battles to the Saints as well.

In addition to her goal, Rosenthal picked up two groundballs and won three draw controls, while Nicole Ellin added three draw controls.

St. Lawrence had 11 different players score a goal on the day, as Olivia Slade (Nantucket, MA) led the way with three goals and an assist.

Up next for Bard, is its season finale tomorrow (April 29th) against Clarkson. That game will be played at Ferrari Field and is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. You can follow it right here via Live Stats and Live Video.
