ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team lost its 2015-16 finale, 65-49, to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in a Liberty League game on Friday night.
Bard finishes the season at 5-20 overall, 0-16 in the Liberty League. RPI is 8-16, 4-11.
RPI jumped out to a 23-6 first quarter lead and never looked back. Bard cut it to eight in the second quarter, but the deficit was 11 at halftime, and it grew to 19 in the second half. The Raptors were never able to get to within single digits after halftime.
RPI was led by freshman Sam Krumbhaar (Glen Burnie, MD), who had 16 points.
It was the final game in the careers of seniors
Bianka Bell and
Tytravia Riley. Bell, who scored 13 points, will leave Bard as the second-leading scorer in program history with 1,141 points. She scored more than 700 of those points in her final two seasons.
Riley, who had 17 points and 11 rebounds, will graduate as Bard's all-time leading scorer (1,598) and rebounder (1,410). She averaged 16 points and 14 rebounds per game over a 99-game career, and she entered Friday tied for the national lead with 20 double-doubles this season. Now she has 21.
