ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's basketball team lost to Hamilton, 68-53, on Saturday, ending the first semester on a four-game losing streak.
The Raptors' offensive woes of the last few games have lingered. The fact that they held Hamilton, which was playing without its top scorer, more than 20 points below its scoring average did not matter in this one.
The Continentals (6-2) were up by as much as nine in the first half, but Bard's deficit was 35-30 at halftime. Bard started the second half on another four-minute scoreless streak, however, the lead went back up to nine, and then it stayed in double digits for the rest of the game.
Hamilton shot 50 percent from the field in the game - to Bard's 35 percent - and the Raptors made just 5-of-23 from beyond the arc.
Michael Grassey (Winchester, MA) led the winners with 22 points and seven rebounds. Peter Hoffman (Putnam Valley, NY) and Joe Pucci (New York, NY) added 10 points apiece.
Bard (2-7) got an excellent game from freshman
Christopher Rogers, who had 14 points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes.
Armando Dunn added 12 points, five rebounds, three steals and a block.
All of Bard's 16 remaining contests are in the Liberty League, beginning at home with Hobart and RIT on Jan. 6-7.
