Raptors play 23rd-ranked RIT tough

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - After producing one of its worst performances of the season on Friday night against an unranked, sub-.500 team, the Bard College women's basketball team put together one its best efforts on the season against 23rd-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday.

The Raptors hung around in the first half, trailing by eight at halftime, then scored as many points in the third quarter as they had in the entire first half (22). It cut RIT's lead to 47-44 after three quarters.

RIT responded with a 20-3 run in the first four minutes of the fourth quarter, and the Tigers won going away, 72-50.

Bard senior Bianka Bell, who had 11 points in the third quarter alone and 21 by that point in the game, went down with an injury in the first few seconds of the fourth quarter. In the two minutes she sat out, RIT went on a 9-0 run, and the onslaught continued even after Bell hobbled her way back onto the floor.
