Bell scores 1,000th career point in loss to William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. - Senior Bianka Bell became the third Bard College women's basketball player to score 1,000 career points during the Raptors' 63-41 loss to William Smith College on Friday night.

Bell joined 2011 graduate Latiqua Williams (1,098) and current Bard senior Tytravia Riley (1,455 and counting) in the 1,000-point club with a free throw in the fourth quarter.

Unfortunately, it was the only good news as this game got away from the Raptors early. William Smith (5-9, 3-3 Liberty League) ran out to a 19-2 lead by the end of the first quarter, and it was 34-12 at halftime. Bard's deficit got as big as 36 in the fourth quarter.

The Herons got 14 points and 11 rebounds from freshman Mia Morrison (Geneva, NY).

Bell finished with 12 points and three assists, giving her 1,005 career points. Alexis Akingbade added nine points and 11 rebounds, while Tytravia Riley and Andra Moye added six points apiece. Bard is 5-11, 0-7.

Bell has nine games left to try to catch Williams on the scoring list, beginning with Saturday's game at 23rd-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology. Follow it via Live Stats right here; tip is at 2.
