ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - A game Bard College dominated from the start was beginning to look like it was headed to overtime. The coach was seething, and although the players were putting tremendous pressure on the opponent, they were also playing frantic and frustrated, desperate to make their dominance exist on the scoreboard.

Nick Shenberger let all the air out of the balloon ... just in the "nick" of time.

The sophomore struck from 22 yards out on a direct kick in the 88th minute, giving Bard a 1-0 victory over City College of New York on Wednesday night.

Before Shenberger's strike, Bard had outshot CCNY 28-1, and none of that was going to matter unless somebody put a ball behind CCNY keeper Maxwell Berkow (New York, NY), before time expired. When he beat the wall and Berkow to the near post, the relief on the pitch was palpable, even though the team's performance did not come close to rivalling the effort put forth in a 1-0 loss to 15th-ranked RPI on Saturday.

In the end, the Raptors improved to 5-3-1 with a pair of Liberty League games on the horizon. The Raptors will host Clarkson on Friday, and 16th-ranked St. Lawrence on Saturday.

Bard stunned Clarkson in Potsdam last October for their first-ever Liberty League win. St. Lawrence is the two-time defending Liberty League champions.
