ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team began the game on a 17-4 run and cruised to a 67-47 victory over Bard College in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints, 12-4 overall and 7-1 in the Liberty League, shot 50 percent from the field in the first half and converted 10 Bard turnovers into 13 points on the way to a 40-16 halftime lead. Both teams substituted liberally throughout the second half.
Twelve different players scored for the winners, led by Kara McDuffee (Owego, NY), who had 11 points, 12 rebounds and four steals in 21 minutes. Allison Cady (Whitesboro, NY) and Shayna Danver (Scarsdale, NY) added 10 points apiece.
Bard (4-12, 0-8) got 10 points apiece from
Gabriela Piercy and
Bianka Bell. Bell led the team with seven rebounds, and
Joanna Regan had seven assists.
Up next for Bard: Union on Friday night at 6 in the Stevenson Athletic Center. Fans in attendance wearing black and carrying Bard ID will receive a free pair of BirdGang sunglasses.
