ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team was defeated by Union College, 8-0, in the Liberty League opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.
Union improved to 5-3-1 overall with its fourth consecutive shutout. The Dutchmen scored three times in the first half - the first on a penalty kick - and took a 4-0 lead early in the second half. In the final minutes Union scored three goals over a span of one minute, 50 seconds to complete the scoring.
Bard (4-5-0, 0-1 Liberty League) was outshot, 25-8, and was on the short end of a 5-1 edge in corners.
Taylor Bond made eight saves, and
Daniel Gagne made five after taking over at halftime.
