ANNANDALE, N.Y. - After scoring 15 goals in its first seven games, the Bard College men's soccer team has no goals in its last five games.
It's no coincidence that Liberty League opponents are part of that equation, and on Saturday, conference foe Rochester Institute of Technology dispatched Bard, 6-0, through the raindrops on Ferrari Field.
The Raptors are 4-8 overall and 0-3 in the Liberty League.
RIT (4-6-1, 2-1-0 LL) jumped early and never looked back. Dave Boselli (Chadds Ford, PA) pounced on an opportunity in the third minute, striking a shot from eight yards out on a full volley after a Bard clearing attempt from the goal line was stuffed and it floated right to him. Danny Bloshkin (Liverpool, NY) made it 2-0 in the 15th minute, taking a feed on the counterattack from Mike Reverdatto (Bethlehem, NY), who was running down the right wing.
When a Bloshkin direct kick from 30 yards was inadvertantly put into the goal by a Bard defender for an own goal in the 25th minute, the rout was on. It was 4-0 at halftime.
The Tigers outshot Bard 13-4 and collected six corners to none for the Raptors.
Daniel Gagne made two saves for Bard. The Raptors next play on Saturday night at 7 at 18th-ranked RPI.
