ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - If you looked the way last year's game went, and if you looked at common opponents this season, and if you watched the first 10 minutes of Tuesday night's game, you'd expect that Bard vs. Morrisville State in women's basketball was going to be tight.

It wasn't.

Bard pushed an eight-point halftime lead to 22 midway through the second half and cruised to a 59-36 victory, its first of the season.

The game was tight for little while - there were four ties in the first eight minutes - but the Raptors (1-7) took the lead for good at 9-8 with 11:21 left in the first half. Sophomore Tytravia Riley had a double-double at the break, leading Bard to a 27-18 halftime lead with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Both teams shot 29 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes. But in the second 20 minutes, Bard's shooting percentage climbed to 44 percent, and Morrisville's fell to 20 percent. The result was a 15-5 run to start the second half, and from there the result was never in doubt.

Riley finished with 16 points, 16 rebounds, five assists and four steals in just 29 minutes. Sophomore Bianka Bell, playing in her first game of the season, added 15 points and six rebounds. Joanna Regan contributed 10 points, eight assists and four rebounds. In addition, freshman Annie Kissel had six points, six rebounds and two blocks, and Liz Freud added four points and nine rebounds.

Junior Jennel Paul (Brooklyn, NY) led the visitors with 14 points. The Mustangs are 2-7.

Bard has one non-league game remaining on the schedule before playing 16 straight Liberty League games. Sage College will visit on Thursday at 7; RPI will kick off Liberty League play in Annandale on Tuesday at 6.
