SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - A 20-2 run in the first half turned a five-point lead into an 13-point deficit, and the Bard College women's basketball team lost to Skidmore College, 64-49, in a Liberty League game on Friday night.
Bard, 1-15 overall and 0-7 in the Liberty League, was shooting 50 percent from the field over the first nine-plus minutes of the game and had a 17-12 lead. But Skidmore (7-11, 2-7 Liberty League) took over the game with a long run that resulted in a 32-19 halftime lead.
The Thoroughbreds came out hot early in the second half as well, and the lead ballooned to 21 with 15 minutes left in the game. Bard pushed back late and eventually cut it to 13 in the final minute, but the result was never in doubt.
Skidmore was led by senior Jordyn Wartts (St. Louis, MO), who had 14 points and five rebounds. Junior Molly McLaughlin (Westwood, MA) added 11 points and seven assists.
Bard got 21 points, eight rebounds, three steals and a block from sophomore
Tytravia Riley, and 15 points and seven rebounds from junior
Liz Freud.
