Raptors go down fighting against defending league champ St. Lawrence

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team played defending league champion St. Lawrence University tough on Friday, outscoring the Saints in the second half but eventually losing, 55-47.

The Saints, 4-0 in the Liberty League and 8-4 overall, limited Bard to 20 percent shooting from the field and 14 points in the first half, and it was just too much to come back from.

Still, Bard play an inspired second half. The Raptors cut an 18-point deficit down to six four times, the last time with 16 seconds left, but sophomore Lauren Quattrocchi (Brewster, NY) hit a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left to ice the game.

In the end, Bard outscored St. Lawrence 33-26 in the second half, and outrebounded the Saints 47-35 in the game.

The winners got 13 points and eight rebounds from senior Kelly Legg (Fairport, NY), 12 points and five blocks from Dalton, and 10 points and nine rebounds from junior Kara McDuffee (Owego, NY).

Bard was led by Tytravia Riley, who had 20 points and 14 rebounds in 24 minutes. Liz Freud added nine points and four rebounds, and Bianka Bell added seven points and six rebounds.
