ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team shot 57 percent from the field in the second half of Sunday's game against SUNY Canton, and held a 54-31 rebounding advantage by the end of the game.
It still wasn't enough.
A 12-2 run over a key late stretch turned a two-point lead into an eight-point deficit, and although Bard made a late push as the Roos struggled from the foul line, SUNY Canton came away with a 65-62 victory.
Bard is 0-6.
The Raptors trailed by three at half in spite of rebounding dominance (31-12), but started the second half hot and earned a seven-point lead with 11:30 remaining the game. SUNY Canton responded, and the lead changed hands several times as the final minutes approached.

Andra Moye gave Bard a 53-51 lead with 5:26 remaining the game, the Roos took over. While Bard went 1-for-7 from the field and turned it over three times over the course of the next four-and-a-half minutes, SUNY Canton went 5-for-8 and didn't turn it over once. It gave the visitors a 63-55 lead with 56 seconds left in the game.
All SUNY Canton had to do was make some foul shots down the stretch, but it didn't go smoothly. The Roos went 2-for-9 from the line, allowing Bard to creep back and eventually cut the deficit to 65-63 with eight seconds left on a three-pointer by Moye. The Raptors were down three with 3.2 seconds left but couldn't get a three-pointer off before time expired.
Tytravia Riley had a monster game for Bard, scoring 23 points and grabbing 24 rebounds. Moye finished with a career-high 15 points;
Joanna Regan added eight points and nine assists;
Liz Freud had eight points;
Treyonna Frazier chipped in with five points and seven rebounds, and
Abbey Labrecque had two points and eight rebounds.
Joelle Percy (Black River, NY) led the winners with 18 points and six rebounds. She went 6-for-11 from beyond the three-point line.
Up next for Bard is a non-league game at home against Albany Pharmacy on Thursday at 6.
