Raptors fall to Union

Freshman Liz Freud had nine points, eight rebounds and a blocked shot in Bard's loss to Union on Friday night.
ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College women's basketball team lost to Union, 68-15, on Friday in a Liberty League game.

Union (9-10 overall, 5-6 Liberty League) held Bard to 1-for-18 shooting in the first half, running out to a 29-6 lead at the break. In the second half, the Dutchwomen shot an amazing 72 percent (18-of-25) from the field and outrebounded Bard, 45-19.

Union was led by sophomore Kristin Schmidt (Suffern, NY), who finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks, and senior Rachel Beaulac (Troy, NY), who had 10 points and nine rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. Ten different players scored for the Dutchwomen, who next play at Vassar on Saturday afternoon at 2.

Bard (1-18, 0-10) got nine points and eight rebounds from freshman Liz Freud. Senior Jessica Philpott chipped in with four points and two steals. The Raptors host Skidmore on Saturday afternoon at 2.
