Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - It could have been an exhilarating win. It could have been a disappointing loss.

What the Bard College men's soccer team settled for Wednesday night was an exhausting tie, 0-0, with City College of New York in a non-conference game.

Box score

This wasn't a game that looked like it would remain 0-0 for long. Both teams had opportunities to score throughout, the goalies were tested, and the crossbar and post at both ends got involved from start to finish. Still, it ended 0-0.

In the 12th minute, CCNY sophomore Matthew Mbamelu (Anambra, Nigeria) hit the post with a blast off a corner kick. A few minutes later, Bard keeper Daniel Gagne made a diving save of a header from Lukasz Zalewski (Zanbrow, Poland).

After being on its heels early, Bard responded with some pressure. A header by Kurt Schmidlein in the 26th minute was saved by CCNY keeper Danny Hernandez (Cali, Colombia). And less than a minute after that, Ammar Al-Rubaiay just missed, shooting wide after charging into the box to take control of an unsettled ball.

The second half was similar. Al-Rubaiay missed high with a shot on a good chance in the 56th minute. Gagne stopped Mbamelu on a breakaway in the 63rd minute. And Gagne fisted away a rocket from Samuel Nkama (Aba, Nigeria) in the 82nd minute.

Bard's best chance to score came with just under three minutes left in regulation. With the Raptors pushing forward, Christian Letourneau served a ball into the penalty area on a corner kick. Senior Chet Darrow's header to the far post hit the crossbar and bounded away.

Mbamelu hit the post again in the first overtime; Jorge Galvez (Santiago, Chile) hit the crossbar in the second overtime; and Hernandez stopped another header from Darrow in the waning seconds on the second overtime.

Gagne made 11 saves for Bard, 2-8-2. Hernandez made eight saves for CCNY, 2-6-2.
