Men's soccer team loses finale to Vassar

Box Score ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College men's soccer team lost the finale of the 2012 season, 6-0, to Vassar on Saturday afternoon.

With the victory, Vassar clinched its first ever Liberty League regular season title. The Brewers (11-4-2, 5-1-2 Liberty League) will host third-seeded Union on Oct. 31 in a semifinal match.

Senior forward Dante Varotsis (Pittsburgh, PA) scored twice and Zander Mrlik (San Francisco, CA) had two assists for the winners, who outshot Bard, 23-3.

Gabe Rudd made nine saves for the Raptors, who finish the season 3-14-2 overall, 0-8-0 in the Liberty League.

It was the last game in the collegiate careers of Kurt Schmidlein, Chet Darrow, Ammar Al-Rubaiay and Raed Al Abbasee. They were honored before the game.
